ANNOTATION

The first number of the Russian Journal of Biological Invasions, 2009, presents 7 articles, which consider theoretical and practical aspects of biological invasions by the example of several regions of Russia. In the paper of Karabanov D.P. et al. the data on new findings of the stone morocco, Pseudorasbora parva, in the basins of the rivers Don and Manych are shown. Spatial distribution of an invasive mollusk, M. lineatus, in the North Caspian Sea in different periods of the sea ecosystem formation on the basis of long-term studies (1948-2006) is presented in the paper of Malinovskaya L.V. and Zinchenko T.D. The data on the first finding of the weewil, Barynotus moerens F., on Russian territory are discussed in the study of Orlova-Benkovskaya M.Ya. The article of Reshetnikov A.N. describes a modern range of the fish rotan, Perccottus glenii (Odontobutidae), in Eurasia. The newest data about slider turtle appearance in the wild nature of North-European countries and the findings of this species in Moscow Region are given in the article of Semenov D.V. The paper of Slynko Yu.V. and Tutin A.V. presents the data on detection and identification of a new for the Middle Don basin (on the territory of Voronezh Region) species – small southern stickle-back (Pungitius platygaster platygaster). Incidence, distribution and size-weight characteristics of Lithoglyphus naticoides (Gastropoda: Hydrobiidae) in the upper part of the Kuibyshev Water Reservoir are given in the article of Yakovlev V.A. et al.
